Business_Woman_Smile.jpgDr. Thomas A. Kernstock and his staff  believe that each of our patients deserves a smile they can be proud to show off. We offer a variety of cosmetic dental solutions to correct such common aesthetic flaws as stained teeth, broken teeth, or teeth that are chipped, cracked, misshapen, or crooked. Be sure to visit our online smile gallery to see some of the excellent results that our dental team has achieved for our cosmetic patients. We invite you to learn more about the cosmetic dentistry procedures offered by Dr. Kernstock and then contact us at (989) 893-4381 to schedule your smile makeover consultation.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain that Dr. Kernstock can use to cover stains or mask flaws such as cracked, broken, or misshapen teeth.  Porcelain veneers are sometimes referred to as "instant orthodontics" because they can also be applied to straighten the appearance of a crooked smile.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a commonly sought after cosmetic dental procedure.  Even the most beautiful smile can appear unhealthy or dull when teeth are stained or yellowed. In as quickly as one brief session, our patients can enjoy smiles that are up to ten shades brighter.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding

By applying a thin coating of a tooth-colored resin composite material to teeth, Dr. Kernstock can improve the appearance of numerous cosmetic flaws.  In many cases, cosmetic bonding is more affordable and just as effective as porcelain veneers, though results will not last as long.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are made to strengthen and return the function and appearance of a tooth.  Unlike a filling which derives it's strength from the remaining tooth structure, a crown covers the entire tooth and seals it from further damage.  There are many indications for crowns; broken teeth, severely decayed, weakened tooth structure (multiple fillings), teeth that have undergone endodontic treatment (root canals) and teeth that have multiple cracks.

The materials that are used to fabricate permanent crowns are usually ceramics (porcelain), or metal (gold) or combinations of the two. The choice is based upon the need.

Dental Bridges

If a patient is missing one or more teeth he or she may be fitted with a fixed dental bridge.  A bridge is an artificial tooth that is held in place by a dental crown on either side of the gap created by the missing tooth.

At Dr. Kernstock's office, we offer both full and partial dentures to our patients in the Tri-city area.  Unlike dental bridges or dental implants, dentures are removable replacement teeth.  Dr. Kernstock uses the most modern materials and methods to create these removable prosthesis, and you can be assured of a most realistic appearance.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically inserted into a patient's jawbone to support permanent replacement teeth.  Unlike removable dentures, and partial dentures, dental implants never need to be removed for cleaning, and they allow for more comfortable eating and speaking.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Traditional metal fillings may create a black or gray appearance to your teeth.  For this reason, at our practice we use composite, or tooth-colored fillings. White fillings applied by Dr. Kernstock are less likely to cause tooth breakage.  White fillings are also virtually undetectable which makes your smile healthy and beautiful at the same time.

Smile Makeover or Smile Design

Many of Dr. Kernstock's patients combine a number of cosmetic dental procedures to achieve the ultimate smile. For example, a patient may choose to eliminate the "gummy" appearance of his or her smile with gum recontouring, and then enhance the results with a tooth whitening session.  To learn more about the smile makeover or smile design opportunities available to our patients, we encourage you to make an appointment  to consult with a member of Dr. Kernstock's dental team at our Bay City office.
